This service consists of the preparation and submission of a report to the Independent Authority of the Ombudsman. Every citizen, before resorting to the Ombudsman, should have contacted the public service with which his case is related. Only if this contact with the public service has not led to a solution to the problem can he submit a report to the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman investigates individual administrative acts or omissions or material actions of public service bodies that violate the rights or harm the legitimate interests of natural or legal persons. The Ombudsman is responsible for cases related to
Public services, such as ministries, tax offices, customs, town planning, police stations, prisons, schools, embassies of Greece, etc.
local authorities and their undertakings
other legal entities under public law, such as insurance funds, hospitals, universities, etc.<
Public Utilities (The Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company EYDAP, Hellenic Public Power Corporation DEH, Greek Post ELTA, etc.)
State legal entities under private law, public enterprises and enterprises whose management is directly or indirectly appointed by the state by administrative act or as a shareholder.
Exceptionally, the Ombudsman can also control the behavior of individuals, when:
the right to a child is violated,
There is unequal treatment between men and women in labor matters.
